Ban on online payment for Indian media content in Pakistan

The Pakistani authorities has requested the banks there to instantly cease online payment of subscription of digital media content from India. The Pakistani media report mentioned that the cupboard took the choice on November 9, for which officers of the State Bank of Pakistan and Central Bank had been requested to submit a compliance report by Friday.


The Dawn newspaper quoted a round as saying that financial institution officers obtained a letter instructing them to cease numerous strategies of payment together with bank cards for subscribing to Indian content in Pakistan, together with video-on-demand service.

The letter mentioned that banks ought to fastidiously comply with the directions of the Government of Pakistan and submit a standing report. When contacted, former Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman Abrar Alam has mentioned that Indian content has already been banned in Pakistan.
