ppm and ppb are defined as:

1ppm = 1/10^{6} = 10^{-6}

1ppb = 1/10^{9} = 10^{-9}

So

1ppm = 1000ppb

The number of parts-per billion x_{ppb} is equal to the number of parts-per million x_{ppm} multiplied by 1000:

*x*_{ppb} = *x*_{ppm} ⋅ 1000

Example: 7ppm is equal to 7000ppb:

*x*_{ppb} = 7ppm ⋅ 1000 = 7000ppb
